When the LCBO’s temporary outlet in the parking lot behind Shoppers Drug Mart at O’Connor Drive and Woodbine Ave. closes tonight at 9, it will be for the last time.

The remaining stock from the outlet, which opened 13 months ago almost to the day, will be moved tomorrow into the new building at 1009 Coxwell Avenue, a little south of O’Connor, built over the course of the past year after the original one-floor aging structure on the property was demolished last winter.

The new two-storey building is larger but also looms much closer to the street-line, forming a visual barrier between the section of the street north of it to O’Connor and south to Plains Road.  Its parking lot is also much smaller than the one that was previously on the site to serve the store.

But the new building will offer “over 400 Vintages products” and an “expansive beer cold room” carrying “a huge selection of craft beers from Ontario and beyond,” a promotional handout distributed in the surrounding neighbourhood says.

Both locations will be closed on Tuesday, November 22, with the new one opening at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23.   The first 500 customers will receive a free “enviro bag” drinks carry-case, the promotional literature also promises.
